The North Brevard Heritage Foundation, Inc., a 501c3 organization, has been aiding Brevard County with the rehabilitation of the historic Pritchard House and is in the process of performing some finial tasks to make ready to move into the house. A fine collection of antiques has been assembled and will be moved into the house October 8, 2010, approximately the same time the Pritchards moved into the house in 1891. It will take 2 months to "decorate" in preparation of our proposed "grand opening" around Christmas.
East Coast Advocate Newspaper 6-12-1891 - "Captain Pritchard is having his fine lot at the corner of Washington Avenue and Pine Street cleared and prepared for the reception of his new dwelling, which will be erected at once. We have had the opportunity to inspect the plans of the proposed structure, and the architect has certainly kept in mind the requirements for comfort n Florida climate, and at the same time has preserved all that symmetry, proportion and ornamentation demanded. There will be large, airy rooms, porticos, balconies, halls, closets, fireplaces, in fact, it will be a complete home, and the handsomest residence in town."
East Coast Advocate Newspaper 10-8-1891 - "Capt. Pritchard has moved into is beautiful new home on Washington Avenue, and Mrs. Pritchard is quite delighted. The Captain is now in close proximity to his business.
P.J. Hall, builder of St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church, built the Pritchard home at 424 Washington Ave. using a 'northern architecture' style.
Capt. James Pritchard built the house on property purchased from Mary Titus, widow of Col. Henry Titus, the founder and namesake of Titusville."
"Everyone has been excited about opening the Pritchard House to the public, and our members have been busy with final preparations such as washing windows, putting the final finishes on doors and window, and making sure our vintage door knobs and locks are working." Members have been very excited from the very beginning of construction and look forward to "showing off" our collections and describing the beautiful appointments of the house. We have had tremendous support from the community with donations of antiques and in-kind services, and want them to know how much we appreciate their continued support to make this project become reality." Roz Foster, President North Brevard Heritage Foundation, Inc.
The house will be open Tuesdays thru Saturdays -10:00am - 3:00pm, (closed noon to 1:00pm for lunch) and available for guided tours at 10:30am and 1:30 pm by reservations and limited to 12 people. Group tours may be arranged by appointment. Rental spaces such as the parlor, dining room, porch and grounds may be reserved for meetings and special occasions such as anniversaries, birthdays, weddings by calling 321-607-0203. Catering and other services are available. The North Brevard Heritage Foundation, Inc. will hold special events as fundraisers at the house and on the grounds for the enjoyment of the community. They will include musical programs, theatrical presentations, lectures, poetry and readings, art and antiques exhibits., and garden tours of our "Family History Gardens".

ARCHAEOLOGICAL DIG AT PRITCHARD HOUSE
TITUSVILLE - The first phase of an archaeological survey of the historic Pritchard House in downtown Titusville will be held Saturday, March 25, 2006, in conjunction with Archaeological Month.
The event that is sponsored by the North Brevard Heritage Foundation, Inc., and the Indian River Anthropological Society, in cooperation with Brevard County Parks and Recreation, will be held from 10:00 a.m. until about 3:00 p.m.
The purpose of this survey, under the direction of Thomas E. Penders, a registered, professional archaeologist, is to ascertain the presence or absence of buried cultural deposits associated with the house or earlier components. It is hoped that the archaeological testing at the site will identify physical remains of the stable, windmill, above ground water tank, outhouse or privy pits, other unknown outbuildings, and/or other buried features not otherwise recorded.
Refreshments will be sold by The Questers Lovie Pritchard Chapter #561 as a fund raiser to purchase and restore furniture for the Pritchard House.
