Mission Statement
The North Brevard Coalition of Human Services will serve to educate the community and individual agencies about existing services; to work cooperatively to develop services that fill unmet needs; and as a united group, act as a consultant to individual agencies in the preparation, review and submission of grant proposals or the development of new projects or programs.

|
History
The North Brevard Coalition of Human Services was established in 1994 to coordinate the resources and efforts of the various human service agencies in the North Brevard region. Together, the member agencies have found ways to assist many families and individuals who would otherwise go without the basic needs of food, clothing, and/or shelter. The Coalition believes that together we can ensure that no human is neglected by the community.

COOK TAKES ON
FREE PROJECT E.A.T.
Undaunted with the prospect of cooking thirty-five turkeys and thirty-five hams plus all the trimmings for the North Brevard Coalition of Human Services free Christmas Day Project E.A.T. (Eat All Together), Mrs Minnie Thomas reveals her secret. "I make everbody work--I work, they work!"
Mrs.Thomas, affectionately known as "Miss Minnie, " is looking forward to rounding up family members plus countless community volunteers as she faces the December 23 countdown for cooking up a storm at the Gibson Community Center, Titusville. Among her family members will be local daughters Janice Rember and Phoebe Denson, granddaughter Janet White and niece Bridget Montgomery who commutes from Daytona.
Miss Minnie is no stranger to the Tiutusville community. She learned to cook from her father, who was the family chef when her mom worked long hours. As a teen ager she rotated between school in her hometown Lake City and Titusville at the Gibson High School. Her thirty-year culinary career includes restaurants such as the former Days Inn on Garden Street and the Mims Truck Stop. Her longest and favorite employment of nineteen years is at the Sycamore Street Gibson Community Center, where, as kitchen chef for Child Care Association Head Start children and their teachers, she prepares one-hundred fifty meals daily. Food is served at the Gibson Center but also transported to outside centers, including Pinewood, Parish Children's Center and Cuyler Center.
For the ten years Project E.A.T. has offered its annual gift to the North Brevard community and Mrs. Thomas has been aboard. This year's event will offer the traditional Christmas Day dinner from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, December 25 at the Gibson Community Center, located at 835 Sycamore Street (around the corner from Titusville High School). There will be a visit from Santa, toys for the children, music, kids' games, and carriage rides by Horsesisters' Clairese Austin. Interested volunteers or for information call H.E.L.P. office (321) 269-2128.
