St Sebastian River Preserve State Park

The St Sebastian River Preserve State Park consists of over 35 square miles spanning Brevard and Indian River Counties. This site preserves open grassy forests of longleaf pine that were once commonplace throughout Florida. The pine flatwoods form a backdrop for other biological communities, including cypress domes, scrubby flatwoods, sandhills, and a beautiful strand swamp. These habitats are home to many native plants and animals, including over 70 protected species.

Photographers, bird-watchers, and nature enthusiasts can explore 60 miles of trails on foot, bicycle, or horseback. Canoeing, boating, and fishing on the St. Sebastian River are popular activities. Launching facilities are available outside the preserve at Dale Wimbrow Park and several private ramps along the St. Sebastian River, and at a canoe launch north of County Road 512.

There are two regular camping areas for equestrians within the Park and one which is ride-in only. The Horsemen's Paddock has 8 stalls, non-potable water for horses, an environmental potty, fire ring and picnic tables. Ranch Camp has a port-a-potty and four stalls. There are also 6 primitive camping areas for hikers that are hike-in only.

More information on the Park can be found at www.floridastateparks.org/park/St-Sebastian-River
