Entrance fees apply to all interpretive program participants.

Children between the ages of 6 through 12 attending park programs may have the opportunity to become Junior Rangers. Bring water and sunscreen.

PONTOON BOAT CRUISE:
THE BACKWATERS OF MOSQUITO LAGOON

FRIDAYS, SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS - 10:00AM AND 1:30PM --
Take a leisurely cruise to the places that lend character to this vital estuary. Our pontoon boat Tortuga del Sol our licensed captains and experienced mates are trained to provide you with a memorable and safe park water tour. Join us for a two-hour journey as we depart from the Visitor Center on most Fridays & Saturdays and Sundays at 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., weather permitting.

RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED and SPACE IS LIMITED. A cost recovery fee of $20.00 per person is charged for all passengers. Call (386) 428-3384 ext. 0 to reserve space.

INTERPRETIVE PROGRAMS

WEDNESDAY 1ST AND 15TH - 10:00 AM - "CASTLE WINDY WALK"
Join a park ranger as you take an easy 1 mile round trip walk down Castle Windy trail. Learn about the flora and fauna that make hardwood hammocks beautiful.
Meet at parking lot #3. (1 hour)

WEDNESDAY 8TH - 1:00 PM - "LIVING HISTORY DAY AT ELDORA"
Go back in time to 1890 with a visit to the thriving town of Eldora. Visit with Ellen as she sits at her wheel and spins and chats with visitors about this lost craft.
Meet on porch of Eldora house. (2 hours)

THURSDAY 9TH, 16TH, AND 23RD - 10:00 AM - "CANOE MOSQUITO LAGOON"
Reservations will be accepted a week before the canoe date. Join a guide as you explore this rich and diverse estuary up close. Some experience is preferred. You must be at least 8 years old and able to paddle. You must wear covered shoes (no sandals or flip-flops). Bring water, sunscreen and a hat. Dress to get wet. Individuals with their own kayaks or canoes are welcome to join in. Call (386) 428-3384 ext. 0 to reserve your spot.
Meet at the Visitors Information Center at 9:45 p.m. We will leave promptly at 10:00 a.m.

FRIDAY 10TH - 11:00 AM - "ELDORA WALK"
Take a stroll through time down to the Eldora State House and learn what it would have been like to live in an agricultural village around the turn-of-the-century.
Meet at parking lot #8. (1 hour)

SATURDAY 11TH AND 25TH - 1:00 PM "EXPLORE THE SEASHORE VIA DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY"
Explore the seashore with a digital camera. We will compose the picture and learn about the natural history of the dunes/beach environment. Bring sunscreen and water. If you have a digital camera you can bring it or we have a few to lend.
Meet at parking lot #2. (1 hour)

THURSDAY 16TH - 10:00 AM "CLAMMING 101"
Learn how to collect this delicious bi-valve from the waters of Mosquito Lagoon. Learn tips, techniques and recipes along with the Florida bag and size limits. Salt water fishing license is required if you wish to keep the clams. Must wear covered shoes (no sandals or flip-flops).
Park at parking lot #1 and walk across the street to the boat ramp. (1 hour)

THURSDAY 23RD - 11:00 AM - "TIMUCUAN TALK"
Walk to the top of Turtle Mound and learn what life was like for the Timucuan Indians 2,000 years ago. Bring sunscreen and water.
Meet at Turtle Mound. (1 hour)

FRIDAY 17TH, 24TH - 10:00 AM - "LAGOON TO OCEAN"
Our walk will start on the shores of the lagoon and continue to the sea, we"ll discuss all of the eco-systems. This program is led by a University of Florida certified coastal naturalist and will conclude with a treasure hunt along the beach. Please bring water & sunscreen.
Meet at Turtle Mound. (2 hours)

SUNDAY 12TH AND 26TH - 11:00 AM - "RIGHT WHALES"
Learn about the world"s most endangered whale and the conservation efforts to save them.
Meet at parking lot #3. (1 hour)
