Hope for North Brevard January 20, 2016 Minutes: Summer Employment for Youth: Chair-Nancy Oliver: last summer they were able to find summer jobs through the City of Titusville for 11 youths. In September 2015 they offered a well-attended Job Fair at the Harry T. Moore Center and some individuals were connected with employment. Dames. 30 teens found employment this summer! Job Fair on Tuesday September 15, 2015 at Harry T. Moore Service Center. CLICK HERE FOR THE FLYER 8/11/15 The Employment Committee was involved with campaigning to get summer jobs for youth. The City of Titusville agreed to take on 3 interns and then upped it to 5 interns. The youth did so well the city plans to take at least 5 more next year. We teamed up with The Reverend Glenn Dames of St. James AME Church. He had a group of almost 30 young people who were seeking jobs. Nancy Oliver met with the students and did some pre employment training and mock interviews. All of the students were placed in jobs, some jobs were partially funded by Hope for North Brevard. Now that school is back in session our focus will be on the unemployed in Titusville. To that end we will host a job fair at the Harry T. Moore Center on September 15th from 9-2. Winn Dixie has committed to attend as has Publix. We will hold another pre employment training the end of September to train how to apply on line, how to answer hard questions, and how to interview. In early October Lowe's HR director will offer resume and interview training at Harry T. Moore. We are committed to helping anyone who wants to work to find a job.
