Become a Member of Citizens of the St Sebastian Preserve

Do you hike, bike, ride horses, kayak, camp or fish in the St Sebastian River Preserve State Park? If so YOU should be a member of the Citizens of the St Sebastian Preserve. Due to the economy and subsequent budget cuts your local State Park needs you more than ever. In times of stress and worry WE need our sources of recreation and quiet reflection all the more. If you join the CSSP your membership fee will help improve the Park for both its' animal and plant inhabitants and it's human visitors. In the past CSSP money has paid for equipment used to protect the endangered Red Cockaded Woodpecker and Florida Scrub Jay. It has paid for equipment and food for our Burn Crews, who work tirelessly and in dangerous conditions to protect the Park and help it thrive, as well as protect its' near neighbors in Sebastian and Fellsmere. The CSSP also provides a portable toilet on the south side for the comfort of both equestrians, hikers and all other users. We also built more horse stalls at the Horseman's Headquarters paddock area. Our largest fundraiser of the year is the annual Horseback Poker Ride. This event has grown into a "must do" equestrian event for this region of Florida. As a member of the Citizens for the St Sebastian Preserve your membership fee alone will be greatly appreciated and help us meet our goals. However, if you wish to get involved in a more hands-on manner we are always looking for and appreciate members who volunteer as well. If you join you will receive a free color poster of the wildlife of the St Sebastian River Preserve State Park. An annual membership meeting is held to conduct elections and other business. However we also host other meetings throughout the year with guest speakers. Members are always welcome to attend Board meetings. Park Staff are attend all of our meetings, so it is a great time to ask questions and make suggestion to  both the CSSP and the staff as well. To join contact Citizensforthestsebastian@gmail.com.
