The Mims United Methodist Church and the First Baptist Church of Mims are hosting the 9th annual Mims Mullet Festival on Saturday, October 1st, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the church grounds at 3302 Green Street (MUMC) and 2395 Kentucky Ave (FBCM), Mims, FL 32754. Admission to the festival is free.
There will be smoked and fried mullet dinners, BBQ chicken and pork dinners or sandwiches, or if you prefer, hamburgers and hotdogs. Dinner plate prices include 2 sides and a drink. Both churches will host a bake sale, so you can also purchase a delicious home-made treat for dessert or take home a whole cake!
Entertainment includes rock climbing, bouncy house, horse rides, kids' games, a car show with 50+ autos, a craft fair, big cat display, and music all afternoon. Games are reasonably priced, with discounts for wrist bands. Girls aged 10-13 and 14-18 can also enter the Mullet Maiden contests.

A "Kickoff Dinner" for the 8th Annual Mims Mullet Festival will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 1 in the clubhouse banquet hall at Indian River Preserve Golf and Community (formerly Walkabout Golf Club), 3950 Clubhouse Drive, Mims. Non-golfers are welcome! Dinner options are either Country-fried steak or BBQ chicken, plus salad and sides, and include non-alcoholic beverages (alcoholic drinks can be purchased at the bar). A silent auction will be held for attendees. Pre-purchased tickets are required, and can be purchased for $25 at the Mims United Methodist Church office or by calling 321-267-6202.
The 2017 Mims Mullet Festival activity starts early with the 6th Annual Golf Tournament at Indian River Preserve Golf and Community (formerly Walkabout Golf Club), 3950 Clubhouse Drive, Mims. Tournament registration starts at 7 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $65 per golfer, or $260/foursome, and includes all golf, luncheon & more! Golfers must register by Monday, October 2nd.
All tournament proceeds benefit the Florida United Methodist Children's Home in Enterprise and the Florida Baptist Children's Home in Lakeland.
