Opportunities: The new air conditioned Education Center brings new opportunities in the summer of 2002. Hosts will be needed to welcome guests and operate our shoppe. Two types of guides will be needed: those who take people through the scrub & woods, and those who interpret the indoor exhibits and give slide/demonstration shows. Trails need to be maintained, funds need to be raised for programs, public relations people and speakers will help bring the sanctuary to the public.

Opportunities: Merritt Island NWR manages a volunteer program of over 200 volunteers. Volunteers are suited to their particular interests and abilities. Volunteer opportunities include but are not limited to staffing the Visitor Center, Trail Maintenance, Bird Surveys, Trash Pick-up, Carpentry, Leading Bird Tours and other interpretive programs, staffing off-site exhibits and assisting with special events.

Opportunities: Hospice cares for terminally ill persons in their home, so that they may live as fully and comfortably as possible. Opportunities: Binky Patrol makes comforting covers for children, ages 0-18. Any child who needs the security of knowing someone cares and that they are loved receives the blankets. BP is looking for more volunteer "hands" that sew, quilt, crochet, or knit. We also need donations of fabric, yarn, sewing notions, etc.

Opportunities: Volunteer Drivers — RSVP & VISTA volunteers are working together to set up a volunteer run transportation program, and are recruiting volunteer drivers, who can drive at least four hours a week. Drivers will be able to pick time and area, and will be covered by supplemental insurance. Please call for more information. This is an important program for people 55 and over who have no other means of transportation to get to doctors, grocery stores, to visit a loved one in a hospital or nursing home.
