Special Gathering of Volusia
in Daytona and DeLand

A ministry dedicated to sharing the good news within the mentally challenged community in Volusia.

During the week, the meeting rooms at the ARC (Association for Retarded Citizens) in Daytona and DeLand, Florida are used for community events. Therefore, they take on many faces. However, no face is more joyous than the times that The Special Gathering meets for worship, study, praise and service. After their work day, the members of the mentally challenged community assemble to hold their chapel programs on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Daytona and Thursday at 3 p.m. in DeLand.

Sponsored by 20 local churches from various denominations, these two programs are experiencing continuing growth. The Special Gathering choir sings. The deacons--elected from the membership--lead in prayer and read the Scriptures. Other members serve as ushers, greeting visitors and taking up the offering. Each week there are 40 to 50 people who enjoy Daytona and 30 or more who celebrate in DeLand.

In Daytona, the program is located at The Arc, the corner of Fifth Avenue and Jimmy Ann Street.

The DeLand Gathering meets at 1938 Patterson Avenue.
