Hospice of St. Francis, Inc.
HOSPICE CAREGIVER EDUCATION PROGRAM OFFERS WEEKEND BLITZ JUNE 6 & 7
TITUSVILLE, FL - Hospice of St. Francis will be offering a weekend blitz training session. Caring for another person is often one of the most emotional and demanding experiences a person may face in their lifetime. The Caregiver Education and Resource Program at Hospice of St. Francis provides the education and support necessary to "care for the caregiver" -- both current and future. At some point in our lives, we will have to be the caregiver for someone. The classes are designed to teach caregivers how to care for themselves as they care for others. The training class is offered free of charge to all Brevard County residents.
The upcoming weekend blitz training session for Caregiving in the Last Years will be held on Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7, 2009 from 12 p.m. (noon) to 4 p.m. at Hospice of St. Francis located at 1250-B Grumman Place, Titusville, FL 32780. Each class focuses on a different caregiver issue. Please contact Barbara Borman, RN, to register. Ms. Borman can be reached at 321-269-4240 ext. 330 or e-mail her at caregiving@hospiceofstfrancis.com.
PHILOSOPHY
Hospice is a concept of care, not a place. Hospice provides support and care for persons in the last phases of incurable disease so that they may live as fully and as comfortably as possible. Hospice recognizes dying as part of the normal process of living and focuses on maintaining the quality of remaining life.
The Principles of Hospice Care are:
- Palliative care (care which enhances comfort and improves quality of life) to all terminally ill persons with less than six months prognosis.
- Concern for the patient and family as the unit of care.
- Management of care by an experienced team of clinical professionals.
- Full range of supportive care.
- Bereavement follow-up.
- A holistic approach that includes the physical, social, psychological, emotional and spiritual components of a human being.
