A Step Back in TimeHoly Spirit Council of Catholic Women presents "A Step Back in Time," a fabulous show of the replicas of wedding gowns that were worn as far back as 1811 and wedding gowns from other countries on Saturday, February 13 at noon at the Holy Spirit Church Hall, 2309 Holder Road, Mims. Slated for noon, a luncheon is included for $15.00. In addition to the Fashion Show and luncheon there will be a display of memorabilia from weddings of church members including dolls in bridal array.For reservations call Joyce Starrick at (321) 269-4553. With her dolls is Mary Falzone, who dressed the bride (a replica Jumeau) in a copy of her gown she created plus the actual veil worn sixty-three years ago at her wedding to Salvatore Falzoneon October 12, 1947.These and other memorablia cherished by members of Holy Spirit parish are part of the vintage wedding gown fashion show and luncheon beginning at noon. When planners of the Vintage Bridal Gown Fashion Show learned seventeen days in advance of the event slated for noon, Saturday, February 13 at Holy Spirit Church,Mims, that their presenter had shoulder surgery and was canceling, members of Holy Spirit Council of Catholic Women rallied with the old cry,"The show must go on!"
Purchasers of tickets will be delighted to view wedding gowns from the racks of the Holy Spirit Church thrift/boutique store, the Attic Shop, located in Mims. Not only will there be bridal gowns, but even suitable fashions for other members of the wedding party, including mother-of-the-bride, grandma and guests! Many thrifty brides secretly purchase their gently-used gowns from thrift stores such as the Attic Shop or the S.P.C., and are just as beautiful in someone else's expensive finery. Promised Jenni Shoemaker, President of the organization,"While we were looking forward to having the vintage gowns,we guarantee the audience a fashion show on February 13 they have never seen the likes of before, along with a delicious luncheon. Everyone is pitching in, rounding up family heirlooms for a memorabilia display and working together to create a successful event."
