The Mims-Scottsmoor Public Library is one of the seventeen libraries in the Brevard County Library System. It is located on the corner of Old Dixie Highway and Lionel Road, adjacent to the Pinewood Elementary School. There are thousands of books available for people of all ages. The library also offers internet connections, videos, DVD's, books on tape and on CD, musical CD's and periodicals. A wealth of useful information is also available from our library system's home page at www.brev.org.


The Mims/Scottsmoor Public Library Board Meetings

They are held on the third Monday of every month at 4:30 pm in January, February, March, April, May, September, October and November.

The board does not meet in June, July, August or December.

Line Dancing Class with “Dance Lady
Mondays, 12:00PM – 2:00PM
Learn how to line dance from Cathy Johnson. Fee: $5 per class. Fee: $5 per class, first class is free, paid for by the Mims-Scottsmoor Friends of the Library.

Gentle Yoga with Cindy
Mondays, 3:00PM – 4:00PM.
No class on the 16th or 23rd.

All levels are welcome. Please bring a yoga mat and a bottle of water. Fee: $5 per class, first class is free, paid for by the Mims-Scottsmoor Friends of the Library. Yoga is a mind and body practice. Various styles of yoga combine physical postures, breathing techniques, and meditation or relaxation.



Computer Basics Class
Tuesdays, 10:00-11:00AM or 11:00AM-12:00PM
One-on-one instruction for the beginner. Topics covered based on the interest of the student: introduction to Microsoft Word, email, or using the internet. Registration is required.

Hooks and Needles
Tuesdays, 1:00PM – 2:00PM
A new club for anyone interested in crocheting and knitting. Need help with your projects? Bring them to work on while sharing ideas and assisting others.

Coloring Club
Wednesday, May 4, 2:00PM-3:00PM
Enjoy an hour of coloring while listening to soothing music. Materials are provided.

The Mims-Scottsmoor Library Book Club will be discussing “This Tender Land” by William Kent Krueger. Copies are available at the Reference Desk.

Painting Class
Thursday, May 5, 6:00PM
Learn to paint with Pat Urbano. Fee is $10 and covers all supplies. Registration is required.

Geri Throne will be here to discuss her debut novel, inspired by her parents' experiences during World War II which explores war's toll on faith and truth. The author, a Central Florida resident for over 45 years, is also a retired Orlando Sentinel reporter and editor.

Services of the Mims-Scottsmoor Library

The Reference Desk is the place for patrons to go with questions of any type. We help patrons reserve books and movies. We help with computer questions. We find phone numbers, addresses and information on schedules of events. If we don't have the answer we direct patrons to additional resources that may be able to help fix their problems or answer their questions.

Curbside Pick Up for Holds Available: Jul 1, 2020, 14:55 PM by Brevard County Public Library Do you want to keep your distance, but still get the new Dresden Files book, or the next season of The Good Place? You can have your library items delivered to the curb!

Circulation: regular print books, large print books, audiobooks (on cds, tape, and mp-3), DVD and VHS movies, eBooks, and eAudiobooks. Newspapers & magazines available for use in the library.

Faxing services: $1.00 per page with a limit of 30 pages per day per patron. Resumes and job applications are faxed at no charge.

Visually or physically disabled patrons: Our Talking Books collection provides books on audiocassettes, records and in Braille which can also be delivered to homebound patrons.

Proctoring services: Provided by the Reference Desk for $10 per exam.

Wireless internet: Free access during business hours.

Computers: The Library has fully equipped Internet access PCs available for public use at no charge for library card holders. A guest pass may be purchased for $1. A specially equipped ADA accessible PC is available. Free WiFi access throughout the building.

Printing/Photcopy: Printing from the computers is available at 10 cents per page for Black & White and 50 cents per page for color. Photocopying is also available at the same prices.

Visually disabled patrons: Access to an ADA adapted computer with a large screen and magnification capabilities.

Two study/meeting rooms: Available for small groups to meet, generally available on a walk-in basis. We will try to accommodate special requests to reserve a room if you call ahead of time.

The Meeting room: Holds up to 86 people.

Adult programs/Book Clubs/Crafts: Throughout each month.

Children's story times and special activities: Throughout each month.
