The Coast Guard Auxiliary in Titusville has the answers to your questions and will give you the right information to save your life.
Flotilla 17-09 will be presenting Paddle Sports America from 8:00am-1:00pm on September 14, 2013. Paddle Sports America is an approved ACA (American Canoe Association) program presenting you the legal requirements, loading and unloading, embarking and disembarking from your craft along with an introduction to Aids to Navigation and Coastal Navigation.
The cost of the program is $15.00. Come down to the Parrish Medical Center South Entrance in Titusville for a great day of learning and exploration into the world of Kayaks, Canoes and Paddle Boards. Call 321-383-9349 for a reservation seats are limited.

We are the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary and we can do everything the regular Coast Guard can do with the exception of military and law enforcement involvement. We conduct boating safety classes every 4th Saturday of each month. The cost is $35.00 and the class runs from 8-4. Point of contact Jim Roche 321-577-0284.
We also hold Paddle Sports America classes which are on the 2nd Saturday of each month. Cost is $15.00 and the class is from 8-1. Jim Roche is also the point of contact for that class. 321-577-0284.
We often hold what we call Open Station in which our members do some boat & radio training, building maintenance or just keep the doors open for the public to come visit. We are located at Sand Point Park next to the Max Brewer Bridge in the light blue building. You can't miss us.
Since our parent Coast Guard until is USCG Station Canaveral often times if we are on patrol in the area we can get called upon to assist in a wide variety of missions from search & Rescue to helping a boater in distress.
USCG AUXILIARY NEEDS YOU
Attention Ex-Military/Retired Military. Your nation still needs you. The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary assists the Coast Guard in non-military and non-law enforcement programs such as public education, vessel safety checks, safety patrols, search and rescue, maritime security and environmental protection. Wear the Auxiliary uniform with pride and your military ribbons. Criminal background check and membership are required.

BOATING SAFELY PROGRAM
The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 17-09 is offering their BOATING SAFELY program to the general public from 8:00 AM to 5:PM at the Upland Building in Sandpoint Park in Titusville.
Date will be determined by number of inquires. This one day program meets the requirements of the National Association of State Boating Administrators and may allow insurance discounts. The session covers a wide variety of subjects including; selecting your boat, safety equipment, boat handling, Aids to navigation and rules of the waterways. The presentation utilizes the most current computer techniques. This program will also include topics on Homeland Security, Carbon Monoxide Intoxication, Hypothermia, Non Native Nuisance Species.
The Program is free; there is a fee of $35 for materials and lunch. Anyone that has a boat and would like to have it inspected can bring them at this time and we will have inspectors there to check them free of charge.

FREE VESSEL SAFETY CHECK
The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 17-09 holds a Free Vessel Check for the general public from Noon to 3:00 pm at Parrish Park the last Saturday of each month. The inspection covers State & Federal Requirements. If your boat meets all requirements you will be issued a very impressive Vessel Safety Check Sticker. Free vessel exams for North Brevard residents can be conducted at their homes. For an appointment, call Mike at 321-960-8705.
Note: This is NOT a law enforcement action; the owner of boat must be present at time of inspection examination.
