Dr. Lisa Dieker, UCF Associate Professor will enlighten us by sharing her experiences in blending technology and future possibilities while respecting student ability. Her recent participation in building a virtual classroom simulator to train teachers in effective classroom management is cutting edge technology.Dr. Dieker co-authored a book (due for publication in fall 2008) entitled, Practical Strategies for Secondary Inclusion. She also co-authored two books (in press), Preparing Special Education Teachers for Tomorrow and Inclusive Education in the New Millennium. She is a sought-after national speaker on inclusive techniques including the Council for Exceptional Children and the National Council of Teachers.
Dr. Dieker's presentation at the Awards Dinner will include a visual demonstration of the STAR Simulator Virtual Classroom which will give you an idea of the technology which is available to assist professionals across the country.
