New Manager at Merritt Island

I am pleased to announce the new manager for Merritt Island NWR is Ms. Layne Hamilton. Layne has over 23 years of refuge management experience working on refuges in Louisiana, Georgia, and Mississippi. She is currently the manager of Florida Panther Refuge were she has worked closely with complex fire operations, and invasives and endangered species issues in Florida. I am very pleased she has accepted this new challenge.

Shuttle Launch Closures:
The refuge typically closes to the public three days prior and the day of the shuttle launch. It may remain closed if the launch is delayed and rescheduled. The refuge typically closes during the day of a shuttle landing. Please call 321-861-0667 for addtional information.
