CANAVERAL NATIONAL SEASHORE TO CLOSE FOR DISCOVERY LAUNCH
In compliance with NASA directives, Canaveral National Seashore at Playalinda Beach in Brevard county will close at 6:00 pm on April 1, 2010, in preparation for the April 5th Discovery Shuttle Launch STS-131.In addition, NASA camera installation security measures require that parking lot number 5 at Apollo Beach (located in Volusia County) be closed to vehicles and boats beginning on March 29, 2010. While this section is closed, visitors will not be permitted beyond parking area # 4.
Both of these closures will remain in effect until the day after a successful launch. All dates and times are tentative, and are subject to revision or extension by NASA. Please call (321) 867-4077 for recorded park status updates.
