Visitor Information Center in the Apollo District ClosedEffective January 5, 2009, the Visitor Information Center in the Apollo District of Canaveral National Seashore will be closed. All visitor operations will be relocated to other areas of the Seashore. Temporary structures may be put in place while more permanent construction takes place. In the mean time all visitor services except commercial harvesting permits will be relocated to the Eldora State house located adjacent to Parking Area # 8 or the Entrance Station of the Seashore.
Maps will be available at the entrance station and there will be handicapped accessible parking provisions to get people to the Eldora State house during this transition. Campers using our backcountry island campsites located on the west side of the Seashore in Oak Hill will have the choice of picking up their permit at our Seminole Rest Historic Site or coming to the Entrance Station in the Apollo District of the Seashore. Horseback riding permits will also be available at the Apollo District Entrance Station. Reservations for all visitor services will remain available by phone at (386) 428-3384.
These changes are being implemented in order to better serve the safety and needs of our visitors. We hope that the inconvenience is not a hardship and that you will continue to enjoy your national park, Canaveral National Seashore. Any questions concerning these changes please call Laura Henning at (386) 428-3384 ext. 18.
