Looking to the 2012 Airshow

November 15, 211

We continue to build on the successes of this year's airshow and add to that for 2012. The show is scheduled for 9, 10 and 11 March 2012 (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and will be dedicated to the 70th Anniversary of the famous "Doolittle Raiders."

You can see our airshow poster, which we will be postering throughout our area. Further, we have already gotten word that some of the great 2011 acts will be returning. Acts like the Jet powered dragster, John Fallis' P-40, the UH-1s from the "Sky Soldiers," and to help us honor the Doolittle Raiders, we want to rally as many B-25s as possible. It would be great to see three Vs of three fly over during the show.

Additionally, we are already asking about the possibility of getting some unique military aircraft such as the USMC Harrier and the Osprey, as well as fly overs by a B-1, B-2 or B-52. We are also working on an F-4 Phantom which would be really terrific!! This is all in addition to the regular great vintage warbirds such as P-51, Corsair, P-40, P-47, and many others that we have each year. The fantastic Starfighters, Inc F-104 will return to thrill the crowds.

Finally, ongoing coordination with the Doolittle Raider Association indicates there are only five (5) living survivors of this storied group. We are extremely proud to have one of these gentlemen as our special VIP guest. LtCol. Richard Cole, co-pilot of Jimmy Doolittle and on board aircraft #1 off the USS Hornet, will be here for autographs and photo opportunities. More information to follow during the next frew months, so continue to watch and make plans now to attend another great Tico Warbird Airshow. In the meantime, don't forget to visit the museum, which is open from 9AM-5PM, 7 days a week and where we have many of the aircraft and exhibits that you see during the airshow on display.

2011 Airshow Wrap

Show dates: March 11, 12 & 13, 2011

We have just completed the 2011 Airshow and what a show it was! We have gotten tremendous positive feedback and if you missed it, you really missed some great action. The weather was perfect, the crowds great and there was a fantastic lineup of warbirds. Some of the most notable feedback involved the following:

Three (3) P-40 Warhawk aircraft flying at the same time -- very rare and unique.

Jet powered Dragster that went from 0-300mph in only 5 seconds and which raced one of our jet aircraft during the show each day.

Heavy Metal -- a great new L-39 jet group that really "wowed" the crowd.

Terrific lineup of vintage warbirds to include P-51s, TBM Avenger torpedo bomber, Corsair, T-33 shooting star, F-104 Starfighter, T-6s, T-34s, T-28s, 0-2s and much more.

Plenty of great static displays.

Rides on T-6s, UH-1 Huey, C-47 and Waco Bi-plane.

Plenty of vendors, displays and exhibits.

VIP guest and flying ace, John Boylard, from the 14th Air Force "Flying Tigers."

Modern military acts such as the F-15 and A-10s and an unbelievable fly-by of the B-2 "Stealth" bomber.

... ... and much, much more.

You will find lots of information, pictures and graphics on our 2011 effort below on this website; please feel free to download anything of interest and if you have questions, call the museum at 321-268-1941 or email vacwarbirds@bellsouth.net.
