Digital Arts Power Up in Titusville for October 2015 Art & Algorithms
On Florida's Space Coast -- October 5 -- October 11, 2015, Downtown Titusville will once again become a Digital Arts Festival, when it showcases Art & Algorithms 3,with interactive galleries, award-winning short films, artist interactions, and hands-on fun in Titusville's Digital Downtown Village on Florida's Space Coast.
Art & Algorithms Digital Arts Festival is a FREE festival and brings together contemporaries in international digital arts in an interactive environment within a walkable downtown. Art & Algorithms, in its third year, features award-winning international digital arts, professional and student work, artist demonstrations and workshops, IPad lab, and includes special family film events.
Clifton Stewart returns to the Space Coast and Art & Algorithms for the third year in a row, bringing a curated film festival and an international sensibility to the film selections. Each film is an award-winner, and Clifton has created a different block of films for each night of the festival, for ages 16+, starting at 7pm, and running nightly, Oct 6-Oct 11. On Saturday, Oct 10 and Sunday, Oct 11, special events for families include a 12 p (noon) showing of family friendly films. At 3 pm on both Saturday (Oct 10) and Sunday (Oct 11) Art & Algorithms is able to present an enduring European family favorite, in the recently released "Moomins on the Riviera" feature-length film.
Central to the festival are the curated gathering places where attendees interact with the digital art and with those who have created it. A central 'Village' houses 'galleries' created specifically to present the digital exhibits. Art/interactive Courtyards create additional meet-up spaces where art and interaction occurs, and Titusville Playhouse's 2nd Stage creates the perfect venue for the international short films festival showings.
Signature elements of Art & Algorithms are its interactive, hands-on exploration focus plus award-winning art and short films from around the world, and the potential to interact with the festival's special international guests.
This year, the festival offers a Film Premiere special kickoff event (Oct 6), International Artist Mingles (Oct 7 and Oct 8), and special demonstrations and workshops to encourage meeting and engaging in conversations with the artists in residence.
Profiles of artists are on the website at www.ArtandAlgorithms.com along with a full schedule of special events, venues and times.
The Art & Algorithms festival highlights creative works at the intersection of art and technology and appeals to a wide ranging audience. Targeted to attract artists, digital creators and technology explorers, as well as international visitors, teachers, students and families, the festival seeks to inspire youth in areas of science, technology, engineering and math.
Titusville, Florida is a fitting place for such a festival, with a population rich in creative and technical talent. This is the place where men and women have ventured into space, where new technologies have been launched, accomplishing great feats and making discoveries that improve the lives of people on Earth. Exploring is at the heart of the people and the place.
An important part of Art & Algorithms is student participation, where Brevard County public and private school students have access to artists working in digital arenas. Pablo Remonsellez, community programs coordinator for Brevard Cultural Alliance, works with the schools to offer gallery tours for groups of students and teachers and demonstrations delivered by visiting artists. "The goal is to empower students and all people through education and to inspire the acquisition of 21st century skills in preparing students for careers," says Remonsellez.
Special guests to Art & Algorithms in October include a group of film students from the Coventry University, UK, who will work on site to create digital new works, influenced by their experiences at Art & Algorithms.
This year's Art & Algorithms is a FREE FESTIVAL, thanks to the generosity of its funding partners.
