Award Winning Artist Celebrates Local Wildlife
Beverly Osborne is pleased to announce her one-woman show: Our Creatures Great and Small: Wildlife of the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge and the Canaveral National Seashore. The show is mounted at the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center auditorium, and runs through July 31. Hours are Monday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.. Admission is free.
 Unexpected Rival
Most of the work in this show is new and never before exhibited. It captures the spirit of the creatures Osborne encounters in her work as a seasonal interpretive ranger for the National Park Service, and as a volunteer turtle conservationist. Her many years of guiding visitors through the Refuge and carefully screening turtle nests on the beach have brought her face-to-face with many of the "residents" who call the refuge home, as well as with more rare visitors. This show celebrates both in a wide variety of media.
Visitors will discover that Osborne's work speaks to the beauty of our natural, undeveloped beach. "The Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and Canaveral National Seashore are very special to me," says Osborne. "Honoring the wildlife that resides there makes me happy."
Osborne's work has won numerous awards locally and nationally, including first place at the Titusville Birding Festival and the Titusville Art League shows. Her t-shirt designs have been worn by countless Canaveral National Seashore volunteers. She is perhaps best known as a sought-after pet portrait artist; her pet portraiture hangs in hundreds of homes and veterinary offices. Recently she taught "Painting Your Family Pet" for the Brevard Watercolor Society.
