POLICIES & GENERAL INFORMATION
Parents: Our dance school is one of the few that allow the parents to stay and watch the students in class. However, it is not an invitation for the parents to comment or suggest something to the teachers who are teaching the class. Commenting or criticizing your student during class is not allowed! Talking to the student or teacher during class is not permitted. If it becomes a problem, we will ask the parent to not be present during class time.
Safety
No supervision is available for students outside of the classroom. It is the parent’s responsibility to monitor students before and after class times. Siblings of DTPA should be supervised by the parent at all times.
No student should exit the building without a parent’s supervision.
DTPA makes all effort to insure the best safety for the instruction of the students. However, understand that dance and gymnastics are physical activities and sometimes under the best of care accidents occur.
Signing below states that the student(s) does not have physical limitations and releases DTPA from liabilities if an injury occurs. DTPA is not responsible for any injury upon family member(s) or friend(s)s of DTPA students while on the premises or at any DTPA activity, performance, or function. Same applies for any lost, stolen, or broken belongings.
There are times when dance instruction requires “hands-on” manipulation/repositioning of the child’s body by the instructor. Signing below indicates your understanding/acceptance of this policy.
Performing
Failure to comply with the below may result in your student losing privilege of performing in future shows. All performances are voluntary.
BEFORE signing up, understand the times of the rehearsal(s) ands show time(s) and costs.
The student MUST stay for the entire SHOW!
It is the parent’s responsibility to check the student’s box concerning new information and reminders for the show in question.
Competition and Convention
Enter no competition under DTPA without written permission. All choreography must be unaltered. Christy and your teacher must approve costumes, music and choreography. Absolutely no competing under another school! Trophies won, are property of DTPA and will be displayed there, with the exception of solo trophies may be taken by the student.
Press Release
All press releases given to the media will be by DTPA only-not by individuals. By signing below, you give permission and release of your student’s pictures and activities to be used in publicity and advertising for DTPA until such time as this release is revoked in writing and such revocation is delivered to Allan or Christy Scherer.
Lost and Found
Any items found are placed in a box in the lobby and retained for a few months. After a reasonable amount of time the remaining items are given or thrown away. DTPA is not responsible for lost items.
Tuition
* Tuition is due by the 15th of each month. After the 15th there will be a $15 late fee.
*There is a $25 returned check fee.
*There are no refunds for missed classes, missed privates, withdrawals, or cancellations of any kind.
*If your student has not been in class and you have not withdrawn them, there is still a recurring monthly tuition.
*There are no pro-rated tuitions for your child missing classes of any kind.
*If your child has been invited to be in the Production Class, there is an additional monthly tuition. It is not pro-rated for missed classes. It is to be added in their monthly tuition.
Private Lessons
*All of our dance private lessons will be booked full soon if they have not already. Having a dance private lesson for the student to take a piece to competition is a privilege. If you book a private, (solo, duo, trio etc..) for your student to go to competition, that private HAS to be taken weekly. There will be no exceptions to this rule. If the student has to cancel that private for any reason, we will do our best to reschedule, but please understand that was your students time with the teacher and there may be no other time for that teacher for that week. If there is a Holiday or the teacher or DTPA has to cancel your students private lesson we will make other days available to make-up for that lesson. Please be aware, if we or a Holiday were the cause for the cancellation the private may have to be made up on a Saturday. Once again, please be knowledgeable before you book a private lesson(s) for your child that if you cannot make it to that private due to illness, out of town, etc... you will still have to pay for that private due to the fact you booked this weekly time slot for the entire year with the instructor.
*Any voice, guitar, drums or piano private that is booked for competition pieces has the same rules applied as the dance private lessons above.
*Any voice, guitar, drums or piano private lesson that is not for competitions, please give DTPA 24 hours notice of any cancellations. If a student has many cancellations, or gives no notice for missed classes, he/she will lose their spot for the private lesson. After 2 cancellations, any others will be charged.
